‘Real Mallorca would be nice’ – Klopp answers questions about one day managing in Spain | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp has joked about potentially managing Real Mallorca in the future after being quizzed about one day moving to Spain.

Klopp first moved into management back in 2001, helping steer Mainz back into the Bundesliga in 2004, before attracting the attentions of Borussia Dortmund in 2008.

Another relatively lengthy spell in charge followed at the Westafalenstadion, steering Der BVB to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010 and 2011, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2012.

After stepping down in 2015, Klopp wasn’t out of work long before Liverpool came calling where he has since restored the Merseyside outfit back towards the peak of English and European football, ending the club’s 30 year wait for title success last season.

There has always been speculation as to where Klopp’s next club will be, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid often touted as potential destinations.

Having jetted to the Spanish capital for Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid, the 53-year-old Reds boss was asked about the possibility of managing in Spain one day.

“At the end of my career, if I had only three clubs then it is not too bad, eh? I would not regret it,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “When we flew out I regret we don’t live here! The weather is so much better here. You are blessed!”

The German was again pressed on a potential move to the Iberian peninsula, though he again gave nothing away, joking about Real Mallorca being a nice option for him given his broken Spanish.

“There are three good clubs. I would fit to all of them. Only problem I have is my Spanish is really bad! You wouldn’t enjoy having me in Spain with broken Spanish. All the clubs have great managers. Real Mallorca would be nice!”
