Real Madrid's new number one shirt-seller is a bit of a surprise

Cristiano Ronaldo left a big hole at Real Madrid in more ways than one.

Not only is he, obviously, a brilliant player, but he was also a cash cow off the pitch for Los Blancos.

His famous No7 shirt was consistently the best-seller at Santiago Bernabéu, but now, with the Ballon d’Or winner gone, there’s a new man on top of the charts.

And it’s a bit of a surprising one.

We were guessing at Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema, maybe even Isco or Sergio Ramos.

But in fact, according to Marca, the best-selling shirt at Real Madrid this summer has been Luka Modrić.

Although official numbers have yet to be released by Madrid, workers at the club shop who were interviewed by the newspaper claim that the Croatia midfielder’s No10 jersey is “by far” the most popular.
