The Frenchman scored two superb goals in Real Madrid's 4-1 win over Alaves on Saturday to move to within two goals of leading scorer Youssef En-Nesyri.

"We're looking at ourselves," Benzema said after Los Blancos went four points behind LaLiga Santander leaders Atletico Madrid.

"There's still a lot of the season left."

Following their defeat to Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid were under pressure going into their meeting with Alaves.

"It was a good game for us, for our confidence," Benzema added.

"We have to keep working as we have until now, which is what we need to do after a difficult week."

After Benzema and his teammates struggled for goals of late, things finally came together at Mendizorroza.

"We work on it every day - goals, crosses, passes..." Benzema continued. "Today, the goals went in. We're on the right track after a tough week for us.

"You always feel the pressure [to score] in this team. I always want to help my teammates and I did that today - but not just me, but all my teammates."

One of those teammates to find the net in Vitoria was Eden Hazard, who also put in an impressive performance.

"He was a great player at Chelsea and now he has to make history again at Real Madrid," Benzema said on the Belgian.

"He's looking good to me and he's going to help us a lot."
