In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid want to recruit Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni next year. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Italian centre-back to the Spanish capital.

Bastoni’s Impressive Run Of Form At San Siro

The 24-year-old is having a solid campaign at the Milan club as he has put in a run of impressive displays at the centre of their backline. Bastoni has participated in 19 matches for his current club this season but has failed to score or create a goal for them thus far on all fronts.

The Italian sensation has been a decent performer on the defensive end of the pitch based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from inside his half after making 90.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Inter will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Madrid giants to sign him on the cheap next year.

Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Bastoni Up?

Bastoni is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and can use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air.

The Italian talent is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, he has still not proven his worth outside Italian football and might need some time to adapt to life in Spain if Real Madrid can get him on board in the future.

Bastoni would add more bite and steel to Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He might even help the Madrid giants compete for some major honours over the next few years. At 24, the Italian has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Real Madrid to pursue this January or at the end of this season. All in all, Ancelotti should try everything in his power to snap Bastoni up in 2024.
