Real Madrid are willing to offer Luka Modrić plus cash to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in January.

That’s according to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, who report that Los Blancos believe Modrić plus approximately €50m would be a fair price for Koulibaly.

The Senegalese international is one of the top rated centre-backs in the world and a number of clubs are thought to be weighing up a future move for him.

Koulibaly is now 28 and has previously been valued at circa €100m, but it seems Madrid are hoping to get him for a knock down fee by including Modrić in their offer.

The 34-year-old Croatian has contributed three goals in 14 appearances in all competitions this season, one of which came against Club Brugge in the Championship on Wednesday.

But the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner is no longer the player he once was and Madrid are reportedly eager to get his wages off their wage bill.

Modrić is one of the highest paid players at the Bernabeu and his contract is set to expire in June 2020.
