The Kylian Mbappé fever has taken over Madrid, and rightfully so. Earlier today, the player was presented at Santiago Bernabéu as a new Real Madrid player and signed his contract with the club, officially putting an end to the long-drawn transfer saga.

Los Blancos’ progress in the transfer market beyond the Frenchman’s acquisition, however, has been minimal.

Now, according to reports from Foot Mercato, the men in white could end up regretting some of their decisions earlier this summer.

Top target moving distant

It is no secret at this point that Real Madrid have French phenom Leny Yoro as their top defensive target for the summer. With Nacho Fernández no longer at the club and David Alaba still injured, there is an urgent need for a new centre-back.

As revealed by the report, however, Yoro’s entourage is now pushing the player to agree terms and sign with Manchester United after the Red Devils jumped in with an offer economically superior to Los Blancos’.

Real Madrid were confident that they were the youngster’s preferred destination and thus offered Lille a fee of just €20 million, hoping the player’s preference would weigh heavily.

United, however, crashed the party with a €60 million offer and turned the tables around. Despite not wanting to sign for the English side initially, they are now making serious advances towards securing his signature.

Decision pending

While Yoro is being pressured by Lille, his entourage, and Manchester United representatives to join the Premier League club, he has not made any final decision yet. The Red Devils, however, are now a serious option.

The pressure now shifts to Real Madrid to see if they will tweak their offer to take a more competitive stance or shift their eyes towards a plan B.

With Lille already accepting United’s offer, time is running out for Florentino Pérez and Co. to salvage the deal.
