Dani Ceballos finds himself staring at an uncertain future at Real Madrid, with the midfielder keen on having more minutes than he is currently being afforded by Xabi Alonso.
Talks of a departure have been doing the rounds all through the summer, but things seem to have escalated in the past few days, especially following the player’s ‘last dance’ comment on social media after the win vs Real Oviedo.
Olympique de Marseille soon emerged as a suitor for Ceballos and even secured an agreement with the player, while holding talks with Real Madrid over the terms of the deal.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid’s transfer fee demands of €15 million for Ceballos are seen as ‘too high’ by Marseille.
As such, there is no agreement between the two clubs as of yet, with the Ligue 1 giants now exploring other alternatives to reinforce their midfield.

Indeed, the update from Romano states that Marseille have contacted SL Benfica over a potential move for Florentino Luis, which could suggest that a transfer for Ceballos might now be off.
The French outfit are seeking a new midfielder to replace Adrien Rabiot, who will be sold after his latest controversy.
Ceballos emerged as an option for Marseille, but they were seemingly leaning towards a loan deal with a buy option, whereas Real Madrid insisted on a transfer worth at least €15 million.
The Ligue 1 outfit, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, have now deemed the €15 million demand for Ceballos as excessive and are looking to rope in Florentino Luis from Benfica, on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
What this development means for Ceballos and his future remains to be seen.
