Real Madrid star dedicates goal vs Valladolid to Carlo Ancelotti | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Sunday moved to dedicate his latest goal to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The player in question? Federico Valverde.

All-action midfielder Valverde is for his part fresh off another stellar individual display.

En route to a 3-0 downing of Real Valladolid, the Uruguayan played a starring role for Real Madrid, enough to secure for himself Man of the Match honours at the Santiago Bernabéu.

This included the opening goal of the clash, Valverde’s thunderous deflected strike from distance finding its way into the bottom corner of the visitors’ net.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle this evening, the 26-year-old, in turn, was inevitably drawn on his latest goal, which made it two in three to open the new campaign.

And Valverde made use of the opportunity to dedicate as much to his manager, ‘thanking’ Carlo Ancelotti for his trust:

“I’m very happy to be able to help the team with goals, but I have to thank Carlo Ancelotti. Today’s goal is his.”
