Real Madrid are anticipated on the lookout for top-quality talent to bolster their team in the upcoming summer transfer window.

With Kylian Mbappe’s imminent arrival bound to enhance the offensive aptitude of the team, Los Blancos are also exploring opportunities to strengthen the back line.

And given Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez, and Nacho Fernandez are all entering their mid-30s, the signing of a younger option in the right-back position has been on the club’s agenda.

Specifically, Juanlu Sanchez has emerged as a potential candidate. Real Madrid previously asked about the situation of the Sevilla academy graduate, whose contract expires in 2026.

Real Madrid might give up pursuit of Juanlu

The 20-year-old spent the previous season out on loan at Mirandes in the lower levels and was enjoying a breakthrough season.

But his progress recently has reached a standstill, with Juanlu struggling to acquire regular game time.

According to AS, Juanlu’s recent drop in performance and playing time has raised questions about whether he will reach his full potential and sign with a team like Real Madrid.

Totalling just 15 minutes over the past two months, the Spaniard is no longer earning the same acclaim he was earlier in the campaign.

Sevilla is willing to let him go this summer for a “decent offer,” particularly since Dario Benavidez, another young player with promise, is catching up to him.

Juanlu’s current circumstances, however, imply that any prospective transfer to Real Madrid or another elite team could have to wait until he can get his career back on track.

Pedro Lima on the club’s radar

The club is still set to keep its eyes peeled for exciting young talents for the right-back position moving forward.

And according to prior reports Pedro Lima, a young right back for Sport Recife, is a target for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

It remains to be seen if the Merengues can secure his signing, with the 17-year-old defensive ace having no shortage of admirers.
