Roma and Real Madrid have gone from one negotiation to another.

Yesterday was supposed to be the day that the transfer of Borja Mayoral from the Spanish side to Roma was finalised, but surprisingly – the deal was blocked by manager Zinedine Zidane.

After breaking off negotiations for Mayoral, Real Madrid and Roma have started talks for a different player: Luka Jovic.

Il Tempo reports that Real Madrid’s goal is to find a solution for Jović, who would be loaned out for a year to allow him to relaunch his career and return to the levels he reached in Germany.

The attacker, who arrived in Spain from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 for around €60 million in total, has scored only two goals in 28 games overall and is looking for a new club that will allow him to play consistently.

Roma are carefully considering whether to complete the operation, which would be expensive.

Real Madrid is open to lowering their asking price for Jović: they initially requested €10 million for the loan, but there is also the issue regarding his wages.

Jović earns €4.5 million (net) per season and would be the second highest earner at the club behind only Edin Dzeko.

A definitive response from Roma is expected within the coming hours as bother Inter and Milan have also expressed interest in the player.
