Real Madrid are preparing a shock summer deal for Manchester United academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo following his impressive breakthrough season. According to donDiario, via Sky Sports, Madrid would like to replace legendary figures Toni Kroos and Luka Modric with the 18-year-old.

The midfielder has enjoyed an impressive season in the Premier League with his club form earning him a call up to the England senior team. Mainoo is also in contention to be selected in Gareth Southgate’s upcoming Euro 2024 squad.

In recent weeks, Los Blancos midfielder Jude Bellingham heaped praise on the United youngster after he impressed in England’s recent friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. The pair also played against each other in Houston last year in a pre-season friendly.

Although, Madrid have incredible depth in central midfield with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde already at their disposal, president Florentino Perez is said to find the prospect of signing Mainoo ‘very interesting’.

Mainoo scored his second goal of the Premier League campaign in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
