In a major update, Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Madrid are considering the potential sale of Vinicius Jr. in light of his latest contractual demands.
As has already been established, the Brazilian is seeking a salary on par with Kylian Mbappe, something the club is currently unwilling to meet.
Vinicius, whose current contract runs until 30 June 2027, earns around €15 million net per season. And his desire is to match the financial package secured by Mbappe.
While the Frenchman also receives €15 million annually in salary, he additionally benefits from a €40 million net signing bonus paid over five seasons after arriving on a free transfer from PSG. This results in an annual total of €23 million net, or €46 million gross.
These figures are far beyond what the club is prepared to offer Vinicius at this time. Matching Mbappe’s terms would mean nearly a 50% increase on the Brazilian’s current wage, a request made more complicated by a noticeable dip in his performances last season.

Over 58 matches, he scored 22 goals. Furthermore, his form declined significantly in the final stretch of the campaign, in stark contrast to Mbappe, who ended his debut season at Real Madrid as the Golden Boot winner with 44 goals across all competitions.
Given the contract standoff, Real Madrid are no longer ruling out the idea of selling Vinicius in the current transfer window.
Although the 25-year-old superstar has a €1 billion release clause, the Merengues do not expect any team to trigger it. However, if a significant offer arrives in the coming weeks, the club may act swiftly to facilitate his departure.
As it stands, Saudi Arabia have shown a strong interest in the Brazilian and would be prepared to make a world-record offer worth €350 million.
The situation is developing, and the next few weeks could be decisive, especially if there is no progress in discussions over a new contract.
