Despite their recent 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, Real Madrid’s start to the season can be classified as ‘mixed’ at best.

While there was much hope surrounding the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, the forward line, consisting of the Frenchman, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr., is yet to click.

This is coupled with a slew of injuries, which has held back a Los Blancos side currently trailing league leaders Barcelona by four points.

In light of Real Madrid’s mixed start to the season, former player Guti has offered his take, even urging Los Blancos to go after a certain Erling Haaland.

Guti urges Real Madrid to sign Haaland

Guti’s words of advice to Real Madrid came against the backdrop of his assessment on Mbappe’s early days at the club.

“He started well with the European Super Cup but in the League, the draws make a lot of noise outside. With the arrival of Kylian, he has to adjust certain things but he will improve as the days go by,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Guti went on to suggest Real Madrid need someone who can add more firepower in the forward line – someone like Haaland.

“I would sign Haaland. I hope he is Real Madrid’s next target,” he said during the presentation of ‘Five Teams, Five Stars’.

Needless to say, Haaland has been a long-time target for Real Madrid, who have been closely linked with a move for the Norwegian for the past couple of years.

In fact, the Spanish champions may even weigh up a potential move for Haaland in the summer of 2025, knowing Pep Guardiola’s exit could make it all the more appealing for the young forward to leave Man City.

For now, though, Real Madrid must find a way to make Mbappe and Vinicius click together, as they brace themselves for a crucial period ahead.
