A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid today lightheartedly suggested that he would have been left with little choice but to speak to Endrick, had the youngster failed to find the net in the club’s last outing.
The subject of frontman Endrick’s efforts in front of goal has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last 24 hours.
This comes after the Brazilian opened his account in the Champions League in his competition debut.
Introduced off the bench in Real Madrid’s meeting with Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart, the 18-year-old rounded out the scoring in a 3-1 win, deep into injury-time.
Endrick’s goal, when it came, however, sparked widespread debate amongst those of a Blancos persuasion.
His decision to go for goal from the position he was in, 25 yards out, whilst ultimately justified, looked a questionable one at best at the time.
This comes with the 18-year-old having not only had plenty more space to run into, but also Vinícius Jr. completely free to his right, and Kylian Mbappé on his left.
It has in turn been suggested that the youngster could well have come in for a scolding, if he had not converted with such aplomb.
Speaking in an interview with Marca on Wednesday night, the subject of as much was therefore put to another member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, in Federico Valverde.
And the Uruguayan, with a wry smile spread across his face, went on to admit:
“If Endrick had missed the goal, I think I would have spoken to him in the locker room.”
