In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Bayer 04 Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz as a target. It is believed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the German attacker in the summer.

Wirtz is having a productive campaign at the German club as he put in a string of decent performances for them on the offensive end of the field. The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals and picked up 19 assists in 46 matches for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season on all fronts.

The German talent has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.2 shots, 2.3 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been careful when distributing the ball in the opposition half based on his pass completion rate of 84.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Wirtz is under contract at Leverkusen until the summer of 2027 which would make it tough for Real Madrid to get a deal done for him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Is Wirtz A Decent Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?

Wirtz is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for others around him in the final third.

The German sensation can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so.

We can expect Wirtz to bring more firepower to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s frontline. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.

At 21, Wirtz has got the potential to be a future star in Spanish football. Plus, the German has what it takes to help Los Blancos compete for even more trophies in the coming years. Therefore, he would be an excellent choice for the Madrid giants to pursue when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
