According to an update from Fichajes, Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has made the decision to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and is prepared to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The Brazilian winger has reportedly given his approval to the Premier League side’s project, seeing it as the right step for his career.

Manchester City view Rodrygo as their primary target to reinforce their attack following Jack Grealish’s move to Everton and the expected sale of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur.

Although no formal bid has been submitted yet, the groundwork has been laid for direct negotiations between the two clubs. Real Madrid are believed to value the 24-year-old at €100 million.

World Cup ambitions

Under new manager Xabi Alonso, Rodrygo’s opportunities could be limited, as the Spaniard is expected to place more trust in Franco Mastantuono on the right wing, alongside Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe in the attacking trio.

This reduced role has been a key factor in Rodrygo’s decision to seek a move.

On the other hand, Rodrygo’s choice is also influenced by his ambitions for the 2026 World Cup.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly advised the winger to secure regular playing time to ensure he remains a starter for the national team.

A lack of minutes at Real Madrid could jeopardise his place in Brazil’s plans for the tournament.

Guardiola’s interest

For Guardiola, Rodrygo represents a tactical fit. The Manchester City boss values wingers who can provide both width and direct attacking threat, and he sees the Brazilian as a player who can maintain the team’s competitiveness across all competitions.

While the deal still depends on negotiations between the two clubs, Rodrygo’s willingness to join City marks a significant step forward.

If the transfer goes through, it could be one of the most high-profile moves of the summer.
