Real Madrid have begun work at full throttle in the departures section after announcing two new signings early in the window – Antonio Rudiger and Aurélien Tchouameni.

While the situation of several players is uncertain, there has been little doubt over the future of Luka Jovic, the €63 million-rated signing that failed to prove himself at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Last week, it was reported that Fiorentina were in very advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign the Serbian international. The official announcement was thought to be close, but negotiations hit a roadblock soon after.

Jorge Picon of Goal Espana has released more news about the discussions between the clubs. As opposed to the initial proposal of Real Madrid sharing the player’s wages with Fiorentina, the Italian club will now pay 100% of his salary.

However, the player’s wage has been reduced because of Fiorentina’s inability to match the amount he was paid in Madrid. Moreover, Los Blancos are now forced to pay compensation for the money that Jovic was going to earn in the remaining years of his deal.

Given that the striker’s contract with Real Madrid was until 2025, the club now have to shell out the salary he would receive for three years.

It is speculated that Carlo Ancelotti’s side will retain 50% of the player’s rights, meaning they will receive half of any future transfer fee involving the player.

Despite it being an economically draining operation, Jovic’s departure is seen as a much-needed one. The Serbian has struggled to recreate his best form in Spain despite being given multiple chances to showcase his talent.

The 24-year-old played 15 league games for the club last season, scoring just one goal and providing three assists. The official announcement of his transfer is expected to be made tomorrow.
