La Liga pace-setters Real Madrid could be in for a massive injury headache after star defender Antonio Rüdiger limped off injured against Espanyol.
This comes in the wake of Carlo Ancelotti being able to finally welcome back Austrian star David Alaba back into the senior fold from a lengthy injury lay-off, but a potential long-term issue with Rüdiger could spell disaster.
Ancelotti has already called upon French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni to deputise in the back line at times this season due to the absence of Éder Militão.
Current available central defenders are well below the quality standard despite the return of Alaba, with just Jesús Vallejo and Raúl Asencio the only two remaining options.
Should Rüdiger also be placed on the treatment table alongside the Brazilian as well as Dani Carvajal, Ancelotti will be forced to source solutions if he is to keep Real Madrid on course on all fronts.
