According to Fichajes, Real Madrid have placed Ferland Mendy on the transfer list and are ready to let the French defender leave this summer for a fee in the region of €10 million.

The decision marks a clear move by the club to reshape their defence and bring in younger, more dynamic options for the future.

Mendy, who turns 30 today, no longer features in Xabi Alonso’s long-term plans. While he once held a secure place in the starting XI, a string of injuries and the rise of new contenders have seen his influence fade.

With a contract running until 2028, Real Madrid feel now is the right time to cash in and free up space on the wage bill.

Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras take the stage

It must be remembered that Fran Garcia’s standout performances at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States have significantly boosted his standing within the squad.

His energy, consistency, and attacking ability have made him a perfect fit for Alonso’s evolving system. As a result, he is now seen as the preferred option on the left side of defence.

To further reinforce the position, Madrid are actively pursuing Alvaro Carreras. The Spanish full-back is reportedly a top target, with the club willing to pay up to €50 million to secure his signature.

Should this deal go through, it would all but confirm Mendy’s departure.

Though Mendy still brings experience and defensive stability, Real Madrid are focused on building a more sustainable squad.

With younger talents stepping up, the club sees this as the ideal moment to part ways with the veteran left-back.

As the team prepares for a high-stakes semi-final against PSG in the Club World Cup, the focus behind the scenes remains on future planning. And in that roadmap, selling Ferland Mendy is a logical and necessary move.
