Real Madrid defender Toni Rudiger admits he made mistakes at Chelsea to liven up the Blues support!

The 29-year-old says he would deliberately cause chaos by producing errors on the pitch to stir Chelsea fans when he felt they were too quiet during matches.

Citing last season's dramatic 1-0 Premier League victory over Newcastle in March, which saw Kai Havertz score an 89th-minute winner, Rudiger - who was booked in this match - points to this fixture as one he was deliberately careless in.

"I'll be honest: I deliberately made a few mistakes because it was just too quiet in the stadium for me during this game," he told Sport1.

"I wanted to wake people up with it."

Rudiger revealed he loved being a source of contention to opposing players.

Talking about winding up rivals, Rudiger added: "I like to analyse my opponents and think to myself: 'Okay, let's see how they react if I provoke them a bit'.

"But it's not like I pick someone before every game. That happens spontaneously."
