Real Madrid youth team boss Álvaro Arbeloa endured something of a headline-grabbing weekend in the Spanish capital.
That’s according to Relevo, who have provided an insight into the endeavours of the former Blancos defender over the course of the last 48 hours.
First, on Saturday, Arbeloa met up with one of world football’s leading managers, at the Ciudad Real Madrid.
The tactician in question? Mikel Arteta.
Afforded a welcome couple of days off owing to the rescheduled Premier League fixture list on FA Cup weekend, Arsenal’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to travel to his home country, with Madrid his landing spot.
As per Relevo, Arteta, in turn, organised a get-together with the aforementioned Arbeloa, during which the pair ‘shared ideas’.
And the former Gunners midfielder was then in attendance to watch Arbeloa in action, too, upon Real Madrid’s U19s playing host to city rivals Atlético.
Safe to say, however, that proceedings at the Ciudad Real Madrid did not go according to plan for the one-time Spanish international and his troops.
As much came as visitors Atlético, led by none other than Arbeloa’s ex-Liverpool teammate Fernando Torres, marched on to a 2-0 triumph, in the process opening a seven-point advantage over Real atop the División de Honor Group 5 table.
