Real Madrid believe there is ‘no other possibility’ but for Vinicius Junior to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or awards will be held on Monday 28 October in Paris, as football’s finest are recognised for their achievements last season. Vinicius Junior is the frontrunner for the accolade and reports from Spain have suggested there is belief that his victory is a foregone conclusion.

Spanish outlet AS have claimed Vinicius will pick up the prize and that there is little doubt among those inside Real Madrid, despite competition from Manchester City midfielder Rodri and club teammate Jude Bellingham.

“Next Monday, October 28, he (Vinicius Junior) will receive his first Ballon d’Or at the Châtelet in Paris,” the report reads.

“There is still no official confirmation; not even any leaks. But if the term vox populi was invented for any situation, it was this one. Inside Real Madrid, it is said that there is no other possibility. They take it for granted that he will win it.”

The 24-year-old scored 24 goals and laid on 11 assists across all competitions in 2023/24, as Real Madrid won a La Liga and Champions League double.

He was crucial to the latter success for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring twice in the semi-final win over Bayern Munich and again in the final as Borussia Dortmund were beaten at Wembley. Vinicius was named UEFA Champions League Player of the Season for his performances in Europe.
