Nottingham Forest claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in Monday’s Premier League encounter.
Scorers: Wood 65′
Eberechi Eze fired an early warning shot with an effort that flew just past Matz Sels’ righthand post after Nicolás Domínguez was dispossessed deep in his own half.
The hosts responded through Elliot Anderson’s slaloming run into the penalty area before forcing a low stop from Dean Henderson at his near post.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side spurned another chance shortly before the interval as Chris Wood failed to properly connect with Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross.
After the interval, Eze tested Henderson with a long-range effort which the Forest goalkeeper had to produce a sprawling save to keep out before skying a follow-up.
But Wood finally broke the Eagles’ defensive resolve midway through the second half with a half-volleyed opener from the edge of the box.
Palace continued to push for a leveller with Jeffrey Schlupp forcing another outstretched save from Henderson with a curling attempt in the closing stages.
Forest’s third win of the campaign moved them up to eighth while their visitors remain mired in the relegation zone with three points from their opening eight games.
