In a recent report, The Daily Star claimed that Real Madrid are in pole position to land Manchester City star Bernardo Silva. It has been stated that Los Blancos are leading the race to secure the services of the Portugal international in the upcoming transfer window.

Silva’s Impressive Numbers At Man City This Season

Silva has enjoyed a decent campaign at Man City after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Portuguese talent has been involved in 42 matches for the Mancunian outfit this season, netting 11 goals and grabbing five assists on all fronts.

The 29-year-old has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 1.1 shots, 2.0 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has also been excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 89% in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to snap him up on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Is Silva A Good Option For Real Madrid?

Silva is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to cut open the opponent’s defence with a few decisive passes in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty area.

The Portuguese talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so. We can expect him to bring more firepower to Real Madrid‘s frontline. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI next season.

At 29, Silva is playing in his prime and could help Los Blancos challenge for some major trophies in the coming years. Therefore, he would be a great option for the Madrid giants to consider in the short term. All in all, Ancelotti would be wise to launch a move for him later this summer.
