‘The Drake Curse’ returned with a vengeance on Sunday afternoon as Barcelona were beaten by Real Madrid in El Clasico.
Starting in late 2018, Drake seemingly cursed any sports team he openly supported or athlete who he posed for a photo with.
An athlete nearly always seems to have a poor result shortly after posing with the Canadian rapper.
Conor McGregor and Anthony Joshua were shocked by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Andy Ruiz Jr respectively shortly after being pictured with Drake.
Man City were defeated by Tottenham Hotspur days after Drake met Sergio Aguero, while Dortmund were crushed 5-0 by Bayern Munich after he posed for pictures with Jadon Sancho.
There are countless more examples, with Man United and Paris Saint-Germain also affected.
Football fans feared for Barcelona when it was announced that the Catalan giants would wear his OVO Owl for their clash against Real Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
Holding up a picture of the OVO owl on Barcelona's shirt, Drake wrote on Instagram: "To celebrate being the first artist with 50 billion streams on @spotify @FCBarcelona will wear the OVO owl at El Clasico on Sunday. This doesn’t feel real but it is."
He then doubled down his support for Barcelona by placing an outrageous bet on the match.
Drake placed a bet of of €617,467 on Arsenal and Barça to win against Leeds and Real Madrid respectively.
If they both emerged victorious, he would have won €2.89 million.
Arsenal just about survived 'The Drake Curse' as they narrowly defeated Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road.
They rode their luck, though, with Patrick Bamford missing a second half penalty.
Leeds also had a penalty overturned in stoppage-time by VAR, with Gabriel having his red card rescinded in the same incident.
Barcelona were not so lucky.
They fell to a 3-1 defeat at the home of their fierce rivals.
Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde's first half strikes gave Carlo Ancelotti's side a two-goal lead at half-time.
Ferran Torres' 83rd minute goal set up a grandstand finish but Rodrygo's stoppage-time penalty sealed all three points for his side.
Barcelona's defeat to Real Madrid was their first of the La Liga season.
Real Madrid have opened up a three-point lead over their fierce rivals having accrued 25 points from their opening nine games.
Barca may hope that Drake doesn't back them in any way for the rest of the season...
