Alex Collado’s loan spell at Saudi Pro League side Al Okhdood is at an end, with the season in Saudi Arabia having wrapped up last weekend. The 25-year-old, who joined Real Betis from Barcelona last summer before being immediately shipped out, produced a string of impressive performances in the Middle East, and moves have already been made to keep him there.
As per MD, Al Okhdood have already made an offer to Betis in order to sign Collado permanently. However, they aren’t the only ones interested, with clubs in Mexico, Italy and Spain also keeping an eye on the situation. Manuel Pellegrini is expected to have the final say on whether Collado joins his squad for next season, or is sold.
Barcelona will be hoping for a sale, as they retained a 20% sell-on clause as part of the agreement with Real Betis last summer. It remains to be seen whether they will secure any much-needed funds, which would go towards easing their ongoing financial problems.
