Reading defender Lily Woodham has joined American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Seattle Reign.

The deal was announced by Seattle Reign this evening via a post on their official club website. Woodham has initially signed with the club until 2025 while Seattle Reign hold the option to extend the arrangement by a further year.

Woodham has spent the last five-and-a-half years with Reading after joining The Royals in 2018. She has gone on to make 65 appearances for the Berkshire club in league competition. Woodham has been a regular feature in the Reading starting XI in the last two-and-a-half seasons.

At the age of just 23, the Welsh international defender still has so much more to achieve in the game and she will now start a brand new adventure Stateside with NWSL club Seattle Reign.

After joining The Reign, Woodham said “I’m thrilled and grateful to be joining Seattle Reign FC. This club has a history filled with success and I’m eager to contribute to the team as much as possible. Looking forward to playing in front of you all soon.”

Seattle Reign have raided the English leagues on two occasions throughout the day. The American club have also signed Tottenham Hotspur full-back Angharad James.
