Barcelona were expecting positive news this week around the future of Dani Olmo after they tabled an improved offer for the Spanish winger.

The Blaugrana, neck-deep in financial crisis, offered €50 million with another €10 million in bonuses for the RB Leipzig star thus coming close to the German club’s €60 million demands.

Despite improving their offer, Barcelona have had their latest advance rejected as revealed by SPORT.

No concessions

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Leipzig respects Olmo’s desire to join Barcelona and are not negotiating with other clubs as it stands. However, they refuse to offer any concessions on their demands.

Further, Leipzig refuse to accept any form of payment in instalments and demand that the entire sum must arrive lump sum. They are thus not making negotiations easy and the player no longer appears close to Barcelona.

The Blaugrana, for their part, continue to delay their new offers or formulae to sign the player at least until Joan Laporta and Co. return from the USA.

Leipzig waiting for Olmo to return

Olmo was one of Spain’s brightest players at Euro 2024, and RB Leipzig now consider him one of their biggest assets heading into next season.

The Germans expect him to return to training on August 8th after his vacation, but the player and Barcelona hoped to seal his transfer before that date so that he could arrive directly in Catalonia.

With the latest offer being rejected as well, it is unlikely that the transfer will be completed before August 8.

In fact, Olmo now appears increasingly distant from sealing his move to Barcelona.
