RB Leipzig bolster midfield with Xaver Schlager transfer from Wolfsburg

RB Leipzig have announced the signing of 24-year-old Xaver Schlager from Wolfsburg.

The combative midfielder was linked with Borussia Dortmund earlier in the summer before they parted ways with head coach Marco Rose.

An Austrian international, Schlager previously played for RB Salzburg from 2016 to 2019.

He then joined Wolfsburg, where has has made 81 first team appearances across the past three seasons, scoring three goals.

Schalger has signed a four-year contract and reportedly joins for a fee of €12m due to a release clause in his Wolfsburg contract.
