Paris Saint-Germain are trying to rival Manchester United in the race to sign Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund.

The Ligue 1 champions are offering Hojlund a higher salary package than the Premier League giants.

However, Italian transfer news expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Red Devils remain ahead in the race to land Hojlund’s signature as he prefers a move to Old Trafford over the French capital.

Hojlund emerged as a primary target for Man United after they were priced out of a move for Erik ten Hag’s dream striker Harry Kane.

The English giants have laid the groundwork to finalise a move for Hojlund, but Atalanta’s eye-watering asking price continues to make the transfer complicated.

The Serie A giants are reluctant to part ways with their prized asset following an eye-catching breakout season, but Man United are insistent on landing his signature.

La Dea had initially slapped a €100 million asking price on the highly-rated Danish youngster. They have since lowered their demands but will not go below the €80m mark.

Hojlund has been touted as the next big thing in European football, but Man United are reluctant to match Atalanta’s exorbitant demands.

The Red Devils are only willing to go as high as €70m plus bonuses. They are hoping Hojlund’s desire to ply his trade at the Theatre of Dreams will force Atalanta to reconsider their demands.

PSG were looking to take advantage of the difference in valuation between both clubs to overtake Man United, but Hojlund wants to join the record English champions.

Les Parisiens are also trying to convince Tottenham Hotspur to sell Kane to them instead of Bayern Munich, who remain confident of landing his signature despite the late threat from PSG.

PSG also retain an interest in Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic who is open to the move after falling out of favour at the Allianz Stadium.
