FC Barcelona got an amazing victory last night as they turned around the score from 3-1 at the end of the first half to 4-5 in the very last moments of the game.

As has generally been the case this season, Raphinha was once again at the center of this positive result obtained by the Catalans on a difficult night. The Brazilian scored two goals on the night, with his second goal being the winner in the 90+6th minute.

However, the Brazilian remained involved in action even after the full-time whistle, as a brawl erupted in the dressing room between Barcelona and Benfica players. Police had to intervene to separate the players, as both sides continued to shout and insult each other.

As SPORT has reported, the Brazilian took the opportunity to explain his side of the story regarding this unfortunate affair as he talked to the media afterwards.

The Brazilian was clear that Benfica players were responsible for the initiation of this brawl and he only reacted after having been insulted:

“I’m someone who respects everyone. When I left, some people insulted me. I responded. I know it’s not the right thing to do, but in the end, we all lose our cool.”

However, Raphinha went on to state that such things are rather normal after such an intense game:

“The Benfica side could have shown more restraint. If they respect me, I respect them. It’s normal in football after a game-ending like this.”

There is no doubt that this was an unfortunate event that somewhat marred the events of a memorable night for Barcelona. However, Raphinha will find it easy to get over this fight as he will be delighted with his performance and contributions that helped his team gain direct qualification to the Round of 16 of the premier European competition with a game to spare.
