Former Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick has likened Chelsea ace Kai Havertz to Dutch great Johan Cruyff.

Havertz left Bayer Leverkusen for Chelsea this summer and struck a hat-trick in their Carabao Cup defeat of Barnsley last Wednesday. While he's had a mixed start in the Premier League, Rangnick is adamant Havertz will develop into one of the best players in world.

He told Sky Sports via Fotbolltransfers.com: "It is only a matter of time before the entire Premier League will see what type of player Chelsea have recruited.

"I have no doubt that he will be one of the best players in the world in two or three seasons."

Rangnick has seen Havertz come through the system at Bayer, where he first joined the academy ten years ago from Alemannia Aachen. Rangnick, well known for identifying and signing young talent in his former role as Red Bull Leipzig sporting director, admits he's a big fan of the 21 year-old Germany international.

Indeed, Rangnick believes so much in Havertz that he has compared him to one of the greatest in football history.

He concluded: "I see no weaknesses in his game. He is a modern Johan Cruyff, he can score goals and he can play and create goals. He is very versatile and almost a complete offensive midfielder."

Havertz played the full 90 for Chelsea in Saturday's 3-3 draw at West Brom, helping his teammates to fight-back from a 3-0 halftime deficit.
