Rangers To Make Whopping £30M Double Sale, But There’s A BIG Problem

While few Rangers fans are actually overly bothered about losing Hamza Igamane, especially at the reported £20m price that Rangers are seeking for his signature, nevertheless, it will leave the Ibrox side with a significant problem if Nigerian teammate at present, Cyril Dessers, is also sold to the Greek side AEK Athens for the reported £6m.
The problem, of course, as we’re sure you’ve figured out, is that Rangers would be down to just Brazil’s Danilo, and he has been an absolute failure of £6m, a truly terrible signing, and there is no question that he alone would be so far off being sufficient for Rangers’ needs, it wouldn’t even be funny.
Yes, Rangers stand to gain around £25m by selling Hamza and Cyril, but being left with just Danilo would be completely unacceptable, albeit, of course, that is what the transfer window is all about. Nevertheless, pre-season has now started, training has begun, it started on Monday. Russell Martin has started his work at Rangers now properly, and while Ibrox Noise’s misgivings are well documented about our new manager, we will at least observe fairly, even if we are completely and utterly against him and his appointment.
We’re not going to criticise a win, for example. We’re not going to criticise everything, for example. It would be silly to do that and counterproductive. We just want to be proven wrong by him.
That said, as we mentioned earlier, his pre-season has started now, and now that, subsequently, the Champions League qualifiers are upon us as well, Rangers need to have strikers. Whether Dessers and Igamane do go, time will tell, but one thing is clear.
The Moroccan international 100% wants to leave and has done so for quite a while. He is well documented as being very excited about the move to France, potentially to Lille, possibly Marseille. He’s a goner, and Rangers need to get good money for him. It’s, in actual fact, a hell of a profit to make on him, should it be around £20m, because we paid only two, and he hasn’t even been that good for Rangers.
We saw some talent in his composed finishing, his clinical striking, yes, but he hasn’t had much else to his game, so getting this cash for him would be a brilliant coup, an excellent profit. That all said, it doesn’t really matter, at the end of the day, about the conditions of the sale, for the intents and purposes of this article.
We cannot be having just Danilo as striker, that would be no good at all. So, hopefully, if these two do get sold, Rangers get something in quickly, which is of quality to replace them. For further insight into the financial and strategic implications, Transfermarkt offers some context.
