Glasgow Rangers are showing late interest in AS Saint-Étienne midfielder Pierre Ekwah (23), according to a report from L’Équipe.

Ekwah spent last season on loan at Saint-Étienne from Sunderland. Les Verts made the midfielder’s move permanent for €6m earlier this summer, although the player himself was reticent to make the move. That is due to ASSE’s relegation back to Ligue 2. He therefore finds himself in a similar position to Lucas Stassin and Zuriko Davitashvili in the sense that they want to leave, however, Saint-Étienne, even despite relegation, have the financial means to fend off offers.

However, late in the window, interest in growing. According to L’Équipe’s report, Levante are set to submit an offer for Ekwah. Scottish side Rangers have the intention of doing the same. However, they are in a position where they must get rid of a player in order to bring the Frenchman to the club.
