Rangers ‘not’ in major discussions ‘yet’ over wing-wizard Oscar Cortes | OneFootball

We can confirm the Oscar Cortes story in the media is a pack of lies, and while Rangers are monitoring the situation, there are still 7 weeks to go before the Colombian’s loan deal expires, and the story in the press currently is complete fabrication.

In short, the tale doing the rounds is that Rangers and Lens are locked in conversation about the winger’s future, with claims being made that Rangers are deciding what the club wants to do.

Thing is, you don’t need to be an insider to figure that out given Big Phil already said it – for now, Cortes is returning to Lens in the summer, but in the coming weeks Rangers will have proper conversations over what we want to do about the winger.

Clement has already stated clearly that it’s a hard one to call because the player was great in the brief time we saw him, and if it was to be a permanent deal the price would have to be right.

Some ITK-types claim there will be a new loan to cover the whole of next season, and that may well be a path the club takes, but nothing is remotely decided yet.

The current story is clickbait rubbish taken from Clement’s press conference which states the relative obvious, frankly.

The real calls will be made in June, when Cortes’ deal is about to expire – we know there’s been a negotiation or two about this already, but it ramps up more seriously when Rangers’ priorities become contracts and signings, rather than the league and cup.

THAT is priority for now, Celtic this weekend then the remaining three domestic fixtures, including another face-off with the Parkhead lot at Hampden.

Unfortunately for Cortes, he’s going to have to wait a little longer before his future is sorted, because Rangers have more important things to deal with for now.

That said, we’d love to keep him – he’s a great talent, and the best winger we have by a mile (given all the rest are rubbish it’s not a stretch there) and he’s worthy of holding onto.

If only Clement hadn’t played him on ‘that’ pitch eh?
