Rangers are hoping to repeat the trick by landing a second young defender from Leicester.
On Saturday, the Glasgow giants managed to sign left-back Calvin Bassey from the Foxes on a pre-contract development fee.
Bassey will link up with Steven Gerrard’s men on a four-year deal once the transfer window opens.
And, according to the Daily Record, the Gers are hoping that the 20-year-old will have company on the journey up from the King Power Stadium.
Similar to his Leicester team-mate, Dennis Gyamfi is also out of contract at the end of June.
Gerrard was foiled in an effort to sign the right-back last summer, but the former Liverpool captain will try again and attempt to convince the 18-year-old to follow Bassey to Ibrox.
Gyamfi has not made his senior debut for Leicester, but has been a mainstay of their U23 side.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has a plethora of options at right-back, and Gyamfi may fancy his chances of getting more first-team opportunities north of the border.
With Jon Flanagan having left the club, Rangers now only have one recognised right-back in James Tavernier.
