Rangers are planning a squad rebuild as they look to close the gap to Celtic after barely putting up a fight for the Scottish Premiership title last season.

The club has been linked with a number of players. But Sky Sports reports that their latest target is Hull City winger Abu Kamara.

The new Rangers ownership have pledged to do everything in their power to restore Rangers to the pinnacle of Scottish football.

That includes investing in the squad, and after appointing Russell Martin to lead the club into a new era, they’re keen to build a strong team for the former Southampton head coach.

The new owners have been urged to spend wisely on the transfer market, and they seem to be following that advice. There’s plenty of work to be done, but Kamara could be a smart signing for Rangers.

The Gers have a long-standing interest in Kamara. They wanted to sign him while he was at Norwich City, but were beaten to the punch by Hull.

They now have a second chance to sign the “excellent” winger and are weighing up a move.

Kamara started his career at Norwich but only featured six times for the Canaries. His major breakthrough came after a successful loan spell at Portsmouth back in 2023/24.

The 21-year-old fired Pompey to the League One title with eight goals and 10 assists in 46 league games.

He returned to Norwich but was subsequently sold to Hull last summer. He once again stepped up to the task, scoring six goals and weighing in with four assists in 40 games across all competitions.

Kamara notched five goals and three assists in 38 Championship games, helping Hull survive relegation from the English second tier.

However, after just one year at the MKM Stadium, the talented winger could be on the move again. Hull are grappling with financial issues and transfer restrictions, and Rangers are looking to pounce.

They’re hoping to land a cut-price deal for the England Under-20 international who is valued at £3.4 million on Transfermarkt.
