Rangers FC Sign Nedim Bajrami from Sassuolo

“I’m finally here and I’m very happy to join Rangers. It was a long day for me, but at the end I’m really excited and ready.

“I spoke two weeks ago with my agent and I was really happy when he first told me about Rangers.

“I told him we have to finish the deal and, in the end, I’m here and I’m ready to give my best.

“The club has a lot of history and I want to be a part of it. I want to write some new history for the club.

“I started my career in Switzerland and then I went to Italy for the last five years. I have now joined Rangers and I’m really happy.”

In August 2019, Italian Serie B side Empoli signed Bajrami, initially on loan with an option-to-buy, and then permanently next summer. The 5ft 11in winger scored 22 goals and provided 22 assists in 127 appearances across all competitions during his four-year spell, helping his club win promotion to the Serie A in 2021.

“I am pleased to welcome Nedim to the club.

“He is someone we have kept a close eye on for a period of time and we are glad to add him to our squad.

“Many of our supporters will have watched in the European Championships, as well as playing in Serie A last season.

“Nedim is a good age, but someone who also has experience of playing in big games and we are glad he has decided Rangers are the right club for him at this point in his career.”

Bajrami joined fellow Serie A side Sassuolo on loan in January 2023, with an obligation to buy making his move permanent in the summer. He scored four goals and provided four assists in 52 total appearances for the Neroverdi.

Director of Recruitment Nils Koppen commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Nedim to Rangers and Scottish football.

“He has a lot of experience having played in the Swiss league and Serie A in recent years as well as representing his country at the Euros.

“He will further enhance the options we have available to the manager and we feel he can be a success at the football club.”

Born to ethnic Albanian parents, Bajrami was eligible to play for both Albania and Switzerland. He represented the latter across several age groups—from U15 to U21, making 51 appearances—but switched allegiance to the former, and has since scored five goals and created four assists in 26 matches.
