Ibrox Noise regulars will be well aware the site and many of its followers have been extremely harsh on Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

We stand by every word we say, but also stand by what we said some weeks ago – that if Clement doesn’t start next season fast, what do we do, just sack him?

His track record doesn’t support the notion that he can withstand pressure, folding as he did at Monaco with 7 matches to go and being fired for it, not to mention the merely modest pressure in Belgium at clubs like Brugge and Genk. They just don’t compare to Rangers.

But we also have to accept we’ve spent big money on hiring him, and his being fired doesn’t really help anyone at this point.

The vast vast majority of Rangers fans back him to come good and trust him, so who are we to tell the majority they are wrong?

The fact is he is going to get £25M this summer and we have no option but to hope he gets his summer work right, and cracks on with next season.

The big crux of the matter is this:

We are praying praying praying Clement learns, and learns soon – he has underestimated this club, its demands, the goldfish bowl and been exposed for simply being naïve in the past couple of months.

He is, however, clearly far from a stupid man.

If Philippe Clement doesn’t learn soon, doesn’t start playing the right players in the right slots and stops mismanaging tactics, we will indeed be up sh*t’s creek – we do not want that.

We need a successful club, and Clement is the man charged with bringing that.

He’s failed in the league – he choked a 2-point lead. Let’s forget the 7-point deficit he overturned, or notions of ‘look where we came from’ he choked on all his good work. No point going into the lead in a marathon without seeing it through – it’s not how you start, not how you’re doing in the middle, it’s the end we rate.

And he screwed that part totally, along with the players.

But next season he will build a complete team to his vision, and we have to have faith that he will learn from his errors this campaign and get the right players and manage the tactics better.

We can’t be doing with sacking another manager, and in fairness, most fans think Clement will thrive next season.

We don’t have that same optimism, but we just want to be wrong.

If Clement can learn, and the players come in, we will be wrong, and that’s what we want.
