Chelsea legend, Ramires, was always a fan favourite amongst the Blues support.

The Brazilian was much like N’Golo Kante before the Frenchman took the Premier League by storm: full of energy, brilliant in the tackle and an all-round solid midfielder.

But of all the great times in his Chelsea career, his most special moment undoubtedly came in the 2012 Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

2012: Chelsea v Barcelona (Champions League semi-final)

The London-based club was hunting a place in what would be only the second Champions League final in its illustrious history.

Having played the home leg first, Chelsea travelled to the Camp Nou with a 1-0 lead in the tie and knowing that avoiding defeat would grant them the golden ticket they so craved.

However, disaster struck in the first half when two Barcelona goals courtesy of Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta put the Blaugrana ahead on aggregate.

To make matters worse club captain John Terry had also been sent off and the situation looked very bleak indeed for the Blues.

But on the stroke of half time, a moment of magic from Ramires breathed new life into the tie and swung momentum back in his side’s favour.

The move started with Ramires picking the ball up deep in his own half and passing up the pitch to Frank Lampard.

It looked like a pretty harmless situation for Barca, but the Brazilian spotted an opening and went on a marauding run forward as he looked for the ball back, eventually charging through the defence and latching on to Lampard’s return pass.

Now in on goal but still with plenty to do, Ramires produced one of the most sumptuous first-time chips that you’re ever likely to see, totally taking Victor Valdes out of the equation.

He took that like a prime Marco van Basten it was so good, truly incredible finishing from Ramires.

And the gravity of the goal saw a rejuvenated Chelsea come out fighting in the second half of play, battening down the hatches and fighting tooth and nail to hold onto what would be a narrow victory in the tie thanks to the away goal rule.

A frustrated Barca eventually overplayed their hand and left room for Fernando Torres to charge through in the 92nd minute and seal the deal for Chelsea.

Queue THAT Gary Neville commentary gem, and Chelsea had reached the final.

But while many football fans remember Torres’ goal as the deciding moment, most of the Chelsea support will instead thank Ramires.

Ramires certainly remembers it as one of his dearest moments anyway because the ex-Chelsea man has now got the goal tattooed on him.

Shared to ESPN’s Twitter, the famous image of Ramires looping the ball over a shocked Valdes can now be seen on the forearm of the man responsible for the genius.

Well, if he wasn’t a Chelsea legend before then absolutely must be now.

It’s one thing to provide fans with one of the greatest moments in their beloved club’s history, but to then go and get it inked on your body as a token of respect, now that’s a whole different ball game.

Hats off to you, Ramires.
