The defender suffered an ACL injury against Elfborg and is expected to be out for months

Tottenham centre-back Radu Dragusin has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will miss the rest of the season, deepening the club's injury concerns at the back.

Dragusin will undergo ACL surgery this week following consultations with a specialist on Monday.

He jarred his knee while landing in last weekend's Europa League win over Elfsborg after coming off the bench at half-time.

The news is another major blow for injury-hit Spurs and explains their push to sign a second centre-half before Monday's 11pm transfer deadline following the £20.9million capture of Kevin Danso from Lens.

Ange Postecoglou's side were without a specialist centre-half for Sunday's 2-0 win at Brentford, with Archie Gray and Ben Davies filling in, though the head coach hopes Micky van de Ven could be fit for Thursday's Carabao Cup semi-final decider against Liverpool at Anfield.

Van de Ven made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury against Elfsborg but Spurs are being cautious with reintegrating the Dutchman, while Cristian Romero has featured just once since mid-November due to a thigh problem.

Dragusin started 22 of the previous 23 matches before being rested against Elfsborg, the Romania international deputising alongside Gray or Davies while van de Ven, Romero and latterly the Welshman were sidelined.
