Barcelona manager Quique Setién has revealed that watching Ousmane Dembélé in training “brings a tear to his eye”.
Dembélé has struggled to meet expectations after joining for €120m from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, spending large parts of his time at Camp Nou injured.
The 22-year-old has made just nine starts in all competitions this season but Setién insists all the signs are positive – both physically and mentally.
“With Dembele, we have not yet spoken,” he told Sport. “Like most, he has things he can improve on.
“You have to keep in mind that they are still young kids. Their dedication, from what I have seen, is total and absolute.
“I have tears when I see the capacity and intensity in which he works.”
“We are really delighted with him,” the 61-year-old added. “He can be the winter signing.
“You never know how things happen and we always think positively. It’s clear that his recovery will come in handy.”
Dembélé – who continues to be linked with a Barça departure – is expected to return to training this month.
