  2. Cifuentes aims to turn the team's results around and looks to make additions to his squad during the January transfer window.
  3. Peterborough United forward Jonson Clarke-Harris is likely to leave the club in January as his contract nears its end, and QPR should consider signing him as a solution to their goal-scoring issues.

Queens Park Rangers made it two draws out of two on Saturday as they played out a 0-0 stalemate with Bristol City.

That means it is now two points out of six for Marti Cifuentes in his first two games in charge of the West London side.

Cifuentes was appointed the club’s new manager at the end of October, and he has halted the club’s losing streak so far.

e now has an international break to work closely with his new side and learn more about his squad as they prepare for an extremely busy period.

Obviously, all eyes will be on the upcoming games as QPR tries to get out of the relegation zone, but focus will also be on the January transfer window, which is now over a month and a half away from opening.

Cifuentes is likely going to want to add to his squad as he tries to turn the results around, and one player they should look to target is Peterborough United forward Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Clarke-Harris looks set to leave Peterborough United in January as he nears the end of his contract at the club.

The forward was placed on the transfer list during the summer transfer window, as the 29-year-old entered the final 12 months of his contract, and Peterborough always looks to move players on in their final year of their contract.

Being on the transfer list meant Clarke-Harris was linked with a few clubs from England, especially in League One. Derby County and Bristol Rovers were the first two sides credited with an interest and then they were joined by Bolton Wanderers.

In fact, Bristol Rovers looked set to sign the player in the summer, after agreeing a £800,000 deal with Peterborough United. However, the deal fell through as the club had submitted the deal sheet too late.

Clarke-Harris stayed at Peterborough beyond the deadline and has been playing an important part in the club’s season, but a move away in January still looks on the cards, as it’s been reported that Rovers will look to sign the player in the next transfer window.

So, with him looking set to move in January, it may be wise for a team like QPR to look at the 29-year-old as someone to possibly sign.

Why QPR should join Bristol Rovers in the transfer race for Jonson Clarke-Harris

At this stage, it is unclear what funds are going to be available for new manager Marti Cifuentes, but if QPR are serious about getting out of relegation trouble, then they need to let Cifuentes make the necessary changes he sees fit.

Obviously, no one is saying that Cifuentes is interested in signing Clarke-Harris this summer, but with QPR struggling for goals, the 29-year-old could be a short-term solution to a long-term problem.

The Rs are the second-lowest scorers in the league with 11 goals; only bottom side Sheffield Wednesday have scored fewer with seven goals.

Therefore, it is clear to see where the club needs to improve and add not only a new forward but also their all-round game.

But, with Clarke-Harris seemingly set for a January exit, QPR would be silly not to consider the possibility of signing a player who has scored goals at that level.

So far this season, Clarke-Harris has four goals to his name, but they have come with him being in and out of the starting XI. He has averaged 2.7 shots per game with 0.3 dribbles and a pass success rate of 70.8%, which has helped him collect 0.9 key passes, as per WhoScored.com.

The forward has struggled in the second tier before, but in his last campaign in the Championship, Clarke-Harris netted 12 times in 41 league appearances.

The Peterborough United man would definitely bring a different dimension to QPR’s attack, and you would have to say improve it as well, as Lyndon Dykes and Sinclar Armstrong are struggling in front of goal.

QPR could get the 29-year-old on a significantly cheaper deal, given the fact that the player is out of contract at the end of the season.
