Celtic striker Adam Idah has been told that he requires to show manager Brendan Rodgers that he can be club’s main striker. The Scottish Champions have been linked with a number of attacking players this summer but are yet to add substantially to their attacking ranks, with Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand joining.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Allan said that Idah faces an important four weeks before the window closes in order to show Brendan that he can cope with the demands of being Celtic’s main man in attack.

“It’s a big four weeks for Idah until the window closes. He has four weeks to show. Is he ready to be the number one striker for Celtic?

“If not, then I think you will see someone coming in that position. You will see them spend a considerable amount of money on that position as well in the next four weeks, if he doesn’t get off to the start that he was expected to.”

Daizen Maeda showcased his abilities through the middle last season after Kyogo departed in January. However, after Nicholas Kühn left for Como this summer along with Jota’s injury means that the Japanese star has returned to his wide berth. Celtic are poised to sign wingers this summer but with the UEFA Champions League Playoff nearing, the club are yet to bring in any wide players meaning that Brendan could be left with what he has.

Idah had a successful loan spell at Celtic in 2024 before his loan was made permanent. Celtic had to pay £9m for the attacker after no buyout clause was included. The player scored 20 goals last season but occasionally struggled to take chances.

Allan knows all too well about failing to make the grade under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park having signed for the club in 2015. The Scottish midfielder was outstanding for Hibs but couldn’t quite make the step up to Celtic, resulting in loan moves to Dundee and back to Hibs.
