According to Opta, PSV Eindhoven have won three consecutive away matches in the Eredivisie by a four-goal margin for the first time in their history. On Sunday, Peter Bosz’s side recorded a spectacular 4-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam to continue their perfect start to the campaign. The Dutch giants look unstoppable at the moment with goals coming from all areas of the pitch.
The trip to Het Kasteel seemed like a potentially tough one for PSV. Sparta Rotterdam had won three and drawn two of their opening seven games, so it looked like a tough test. That certainly wasn’t the case for the visitors. Malik Tillman netted his second PSV goal before Johan Bakayoko curled in a sublime strike. Yorbe Vertessen added his name to the score sheet before Luuk de Jong made it four.
Luuk de Jong now has 12 goal contributions to his name so far this season (Seven goals & five assists). The 33-year-old striker has shown no signs of slowing down. Last week, he became the Eredvisie’s top scorer of the century with 155 goals in 278 matches.
After the international break, PSV will play Fortuna Sittard at the Philips Stadion. Danny Buijs’ side have recorded three consecutive defeats following their 3-0 loss to FC Twente, and they could be punished again against PSV. Are they the favourites to win this season’s Eredivisie title?
