PSG won’t stand in way of Gérard Prêcheur becoming France manager | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain won’t stand in the way of the French Football Federation (FFF) if they want to appoint Gérard Prêcheur as the new boss of the Women’s national team, according to a report from Le Parisien.

PSG women’s head coach Prêcheur is touted as a favourite to take over Les Bleues following the dismissal of Diacre last week by the FFF. Diacre was under pressure in the wake of a player exodus that has seen a number of Les Bleues’ stars withdraw from the team. Several players, including skipper Wendie Renard and key PSG players Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto, announced their withdrawal from Les Bleues just months before the World Cup kicks off. They notably cited issues with Diacre’s management and coaching methods, which they say are far away from the standards required at the highest level.

The French FA is now conducting interviews with candidates, including former France assistant coach Eric Blahic, Olympique Lyonnais manager Sonia Bompastor and former France U19 head coach Sonia Haziraj. Le Parisien reports that PSG will not close the door to a possible departure for Prêcheur during the season.

The outlet adds that, in the event of an official approach from the French FA, discussions would open between PSG, Prêcheur and the FFF. PSG may have a ready-made replacement for Prêcheur if he is to take over Les Bleues. It would be none other than his son, Jocelyn Prêcheur, assistant coach of the women’s team. Gérard Prêcheur has so far denied having been contacted by the French FA regarding the France national team job.
