Article image:PSG vs. Inter: the Champions League final is set

The final will be PSG vs. Inter. The Nerazzurri now know their opponents for the UEFA Champions League final, where they’ll meet a team they’ve never faced in an official match before. The game will kick off at 21:00 CEST on Saturday 31 May in Munich.

Inter progressed to the final after overcoming Barcelona over to legs: after the 3-3 draw in Catalonia, there was the legendary 4-3 victory at San Siro. It will be the Nerazzurri’s seventh UEFA Champions League final in their history (three triumphs). Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, overcame Arsenal in the semi-finals after winning 1-0 in London and 2-1 in Paris (goals from Fabian Ruiz and Hakimi). It will be the French side’s second-ever final in Europe’s premier competition after their defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020.

The Champions League final returns to Munich for the first time since 2012, when Chelsea won the trophy on penalties against Bayern.

For the final in Munich, Inter will be the designated away team. This stems from the UEFA draw held in previous months, which determined the entire bracket all the way to the final.

MUNICH FOOTBALL ARENA: THE STADIUM FOR THE FINAL

Completed on 30 April 2005, the Munich Football Arena is located on Werner-Heisenberg-Allee and is owned by Bayern München. It hosted four matches during UEFA EURO 2020 and, having also been a venue for UEFA EURO 2024, it became the first stadium in history to host matches in two consecutive editions of the UEFA European Championship. Its capacity for that tournament was 66,000 seats.

THE RULES:

If the score is level at the end of regular time, two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played. If the score remains level after extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.

LO SHOW
