Benfica’s highly-regarded 22-year-old striker, Gonçalo Ramos, is becoming an increasingly attractive option for PSG as they continue their striker search, according to L’Équipe.

Ramos rose to prominence at the World Cup last winter, scoring a hat-trick as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s 6-1 last 16 win over Switzerland. The tournament came in the middle of a breakout year for Ramos in Lisbon, as he scored 19 goals to help Benfica win the Portuguese title.

PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos, a keen observer Benfica’s youth teams, is a long-term admirer of the striker who has a release clause of €120m in his contract, which runs until 2025. However, there is a good understanding between the clubs and Ramos’ agent, Jorge Mendes, meaning that the fee could be negotiated down. PSG are in contact over a deal but talks have yet to fully start.

Among PSG’s five-man striker shortlist, Ramos would likely have started at the bottom of Campos’ list. However, with the Harry Kane saga still ongoing, Napoli pricing even PSG out of the race to sign Victor Osimhen, and the club privately moving on from Randal Kolo Muani, a concrete move for the Portuguese international or Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović is becoming increasingly likely.
