Paris Saint-Germain defeated BK Häcken yesterday evening to set up an all-French tie against Olympique Lyonnais in the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.

The latest iteration of Le Classique will pit the two fierce rivals against one another in a contest that will confirm there will be a French representative to face either FC Barcelona or Chelsea FC on the 25th of May.

The two clubs have been the most dominant sides in France for the past decade, with Lyon’s hegemony at the top often challenged by the growing force in the north.

Still, Lyon hold the advantage over PSG after going unbeaten against them this season with a victory in the Trophée des Champions, as well as defeating them away in the league before drawing at home. And the eight-time Champions League winners will be confident entering this tie as they look to add to their already historic total.

For PSG, they will remain hopeful that a narrow margin has decided each of their games against Lyon as they look to return to the Champions League final for the first time since 2017 when they lost to Lyon.

Difficult Champions League final awaits one of these French sides

Regardless a tough task will await whoever comes out top in what will be a hotly contested derby. Barcelona remain the favourites in the competition, and if Chelsea can manage to bypass them, then it will only confirm how difficult the English side can be.
