French giants Paris Saint-Germain have been tipped to launch an assault for a 2nd member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona this summer.

This comes after the long-awaited confirmation of star man Kylian Mbappé’s imminent departure was forthcoming.

The explosive attacker has informed Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his team of directors of his decision not to extend his contract, ahead of its expiration in the summer.

And the PSG brass, in turn, have wasted little time in getting straight to work in efforts to account for the considerable blow set to be dealt to Luis Enrique’s squad next season.

When it comes to attacking reinforcements, the capital giants are understood to have identified Napoli standout Victor Osimhen as a leading target.

Elsewhere, widespread reports in the media on Thursday pointed towards Barcelona starlet Gavi as also having made his way onto the Ligue 1 champions’ wishlist.

And now, as alluded to above, a 2nd member of the engine room setup at Barcelona, too, has been earmarked as a potential summer addition.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, PSG are ready to reignite their long-standing pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.

Midfielder De Jong was actually close to taking his talents to Paris back in 2019, prior to signing for Barcelona.

In the end, however, the Dutchman opted for the Camp Nou.

But the board at the Parc des Princes have remained keen admirers since, now ready to take advantage of De Jong’s increasingly precarious situation in Spain.

Yet to agree to a contract renewal with Barca, the 26-year-old is understood to have been made available for transfer in the summer, should an offer in the region of €100 million be received.

And PSG could yet meet such demands, by way of the funds saved from the aforementioned Mbappé’s imminent exit.
